Is Cotton Better for the Environment?

It depends on how the cotton is treated and how long it lasts.

Levi Strauss arrived in San Francisco in 1852. He opened a dry goods store to serve the gold rush dreamers and diggers. He saw hard-working people needed tough clothing. Tailor Jacob Davis and Levi added copper rivets to pockets on heavy denim. First called waist overalls, we now know them as ‘blue jeans’.

Over my lifetime, I’ve owned and grown out of various designs and colors of Levi’s® jeans. I can no longer afford to buy a pair of new Levi’s. But I regularly search for a pair in charity and secondhand stores. My current favorite pair of jeans I bought new from Marks and Spencer (M&S) five years ago. I still wear them but need to lose a little excess weight for comfort!
