Nobody could see the internet, smartphones, or amazon coming and yet, here they are, disrupting every other industry and transforming our lives beyond recognition.

We have seen nothing yet. The future will bring exponential changes and get rid of many technologies, processes, and habits we now take for granted.

Legacy systems will cease to exist the way dinosaurs became extinct. We will see many changes, but the one with a front-row seat for all this is the baby born today.

Banks are obsolete institutions created during the industrial revolution in order to manage capital, keep savings safe, and lend money to corporations.

They’ve been rather useful for the last 200 years or so, but so were horses. Now we have digital money, Bitcoin, Defi, and all these decentralized services that bring many opportunities for the small investor and entrepreneur.

Take decentralized exchanges (DEX) for example. You could keep your savings in USDC (a stable coin pegged to the dollar) and get 8% interest on it. You can also borrow money at 1% interest. And this can easily be arranged online in minutes, with instant approval, in a frictionless and secure way.

Some might argue that online banking offers similar services but that’s just not true. Banks are slow, inefficient, and expensive. It takes forever to send money between bank accounts, there are fees for everything, and trying to get a loan is a nightmare.

Banks are a relic of the past and they know it. Their destiny is that of the horse cart, film photography, or blockbuster.

Instead, babies born today will use Bitcoin to store their wealth, Ethereum to operate with smart contracts, and Defi platforms to trade, borrow and lend money.
